Tropaeolum majus is a species of flowering plant in the family Tropaeolaceae.
The Tropaeolum majus is also known as garden nasturtium, Indian cress, or monks cress.
With intensely bright flowers and rounded, peltate leaves with the petiole in the centre.
The flowers have five petals, eight stamens, and a funnel-shaped nectar spur at the reae.
Tropaeolum majus flowers vary from yellow to orange to red, frilled and often darker at the base of the petals.
The flower is edible and can be used as an ornamental salad ingredient and have a spicy, peppery flavour.
